Patricia G. Korn, APRN-BC

Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

My name is Trish Korn and I am very pleased to be part of the Life Guidance Center. I have been a registered nurse for 25 years and in private practice as a board-certified nurse practitioner since 2006. Through a combination of therapy and medication management, if needed, I am adept at treating patients with depression, anxiety disorders (with expertise in panic disorder and agoraphobia), relationship problems, as well as issues with loneliness, illness and trauma, among others.

I began my career with work in trauma, surgical and open heart critical care before focusing for 16 years in high risk labor and delivery, well-baby nursing, and childbirth education at Ohio State University and then Northwestern University Hospital in Chicago. I have also served twice as the Interim Director of Women’s Services at East Cooper Regional Medical Center in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina.

My experience taught me that in all aspects of nursing there are psychiatric issues, which prompted me to seek a better understanding of incorporating that specialty into my practice After graduating with my MSN in Psychiatric Nursing in 2000, I began working solely in psychiatry at the Institute of Psychiatry/MUSC in 2003. My areas of focus included ECT, general adult psychiatry, alcohol and drug detoxification & rehab, as well as psychiatric consult liaison nursing.

Because of my strong medical background, I take a holistic approach with an emphasis on treating the mind, body and soul. I feel the most important aspect of any therapy is the therapeutic relationship I develop with my patients. Therefore, an honest, open, trusting place is established where patients can feel safe to express what they need to at any given time.

I genuinely look forward to offering my services to those in need.
